But a midseason surge and ACC tournament run has the Hurricanes making some noise on the hardwood. With the help of two NYC transplants who decided to “take their talents to south beach”, the hurricanes are one win away from making a trip to Madison Square Garden for the NIT Final Four. Guards Durand Scott ( Harlem Rice HS) and Malcolm Grant (Brooklyn Paul Robeson HS) lead Miami into tonight’s showdown with the Crimson Tide of Alabama in a bid to return to the city where they honed their skills. I’m going out on a limb and picking the toughness of New York in this one. Some players will lay it all on the line to reach NY while others tend to coward away a la Queen James. But that’s another story for another day!
