Patrick Day in a coma following brutal fight against Charles Conwell

One of the most promising stars in boxing is fighting for his life following brutal shots to this face this past weekend.

Freeport’s Patrick Day was knocked out cold by Charles Conwell during the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk v. Chazz Witherspoon in Chicago. Following multiple shots the face, with one that sent him between the ropes at one point, a final shot dropped him to the floor. As Conwell was celebrating the knockout, something felt different. Day (17-4-1) wasn’t moving and the doctors immediately rushed to his aid.

DiBella Entertainment sent out an update regarding Day’s condition:

Patrick Day suffered a traumatic brain injury during his bout on Saturday night. He was rushed to Northwestern Memorial hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. As of Sunday evening, Patrick is in a coma caused by the injury and is in extremely critical condition. On behalf of Patrick’s team, we appreciate the outpouring of support, prayers, and offers of assistance from all corners of the boxing community.

This is the latest boxing injury that has caused a scene within the industry. Hopefully, there are positive updates on the horizon.
