Soccer Red Bulls Get Chance at Redemption by Staff Post June 16, 2016 Last season the Red Bulls suffered a heartbreaking penalty shootout loss at the hands of the Philadelphia Union in the quarterfinal of the U.S. Open Cup. This season they get a chance to erase those memories and the Union from the tournament when they play in the Round of 16. Following their win against the Rochester Rhinos of the USL the Red Bulls eagerly awaited their next opponent in the Eastern region and must be delighted that they get this opportunity with their rival. The 2015 season saw many successes for the Red Bulls but when it counted the most in the U.S. Open Cup and the MLS Playoffs they were unable to secure the big victory they needed. In 2016 they’re one win away in this competition from eliminating an old foe and advancing back to the quarterfinal with even more grand visions of winning it all this time around. The Red Bulls will be on the road for this installment of the matchup in Philadelphia on Wednesday, June 29.
