Red Bulls Let Lead Slip Away

For the second consecutive match the Red Bulls had a first half lead only to see it slip away late resulting in a loss. In Seattle last week it was Chad Barrett’s 90th minute goal that broke a 1-1 draw and the Red Bulls’ hearts. In Houston, Friday night, the Dynamo scored three goals in 21 minutes to bury the Red Bulls.

Despite taking the lead in the 42nd minute through Mike Grella, his third goal of the season, the Red Bulls were clearly overpowered in the second half. Boniek Garcia, Ricardo Clark, and Will Bruin all scored for the Dynamo and they made the Red Bulls look bad.

Failure to mark on corners resulted in one goal counting and one goal being called off for Houston, showing the Red Bulls were asleep in their defensive assignments. Then Bruins’ goal, the third for Houston, came on a deflection off of a Red Bulls player. Despite Anatole Abang getting one back for the Red Bulls it was too little too late as Bruin would score once more to make it 4-2 and finish the match off for good.

The Red Bulls next play at home, at Red Bull Arena, Saturday June 20th at 7:00 PM EST on MSG.
