Uncategorized Ticket prices for Rangers vs Capitals twice as expensive in New York as in DC by Staff Post April 29, 2015 The New York Rangers and Washington Capitals begin their playoff series Thursday night at Madison Square Garden. Given that the Rangers play in the country’s biggest market, and the fact that the Rangers were the NHL’ best team during the regular season, New York Rangers tickets are understandably in high demand in the Big Apple. According to NHL sales at Ticket Network, ticket prices for the games at Madison Square Garden are more than twice as expensive as the games at the Verizon Center, the home of the Washington Capitals. For the first two games of the series, the average get-in price is $178 for the games at Madison Square Garden, while at the Verizon Center the get-in price is $85, almost half the price. The average ticket price is $380 in New York compared to $182 in Washington D.C. After a heart-wrenching loss to the Kings in last year’s Stanley Cup Final, Rangers fans are hoping this team can finish the job and bring the Stanley Cup trophy back to New York for the first time since 1994. A Rangers- Capitals series has become a bit of a spring tradition, as the two have met in the post-season five times in seven years, with three of the four most recent series going seven games. In 2013 the Rangers won game seven in Washington despite being down two games to none to start the series, marking the first time in franchise history the Rangers won a game 7 on the road. Led by Rick Nash, The President’s Cup-winning Rangers are a fast team with perhaps the NHL’s best defense. They managed to dispatch the Pittsburgh Penguins in five games in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. After finishing second in the Metropolitan Division, the Capitals and league-leading scorer Alex Ovechkin, won a tough, hard-fought series against the New York Islanders — New York’s final season at Nassau Coliseum. The Rangers have already taken the series to heart, taking to Twitter and using no capital letters in a new age attempt at trash-talking. This looks to be as intense a hockey series as you can get, and given the demand for ticket prices, fans are expecting this to be a potentially historic series. Here’s a full breakdown of ticket prices for the Rangers Capitals second round series. Ticket price information is as of Thursday morning. Due to the nature of the secondary ticket market, prices will fluctuate.
