College Top-Ranked QB Prospect Set To Announce Friday, RU A Finalist by Staff Post May 13, 2015 Dwayne Haskins Jr., the top remaining Rutgers 2016 quarterback prospect will make his collegiate decision on Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. (ET) at his high school. The Bullis School (Potomac, MD.) signal caller is formerly from New Jersey, and is close friends with current commit Mohamed Jabbie of South Brunswick High School and has ties to linebacker commit Jonathan Pollack. One of Haskins’ Pop Warner football coaches is former Rutgers star and current Cincinnati Bengal wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. Haskins will choose from a list of seven finalists: Florida, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, and Alabama according to the picture above on Twitter. Rated as a four-star by the 247Sports Composite and the fifth-overall Pro-Style quarterback in the country, Haskins has been invited to the Under Armour All-American Game and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game after a strong junior year throwing for 1,936 yards with 22 touchdowns on 159-of-259 passing. Haskins last visited head coach Kyle Flood and the Scarlet Knights on May 1 with his parents according to Todderick Hunt of NJ Advance Media. Just a month ago, Rutgers fans were on the edge of their seats when highly-touted Bergen Catholic quarterback Jarrett Guarantano announced his college intentions with Rutgers as a finalist. Guarantano ultimately chose Tennessee which still leaves the door wide open for Haskins. It’s perceived that Maryland is the front-runner for his services, but the Knights have a shot to the land the talented signal caller. The 6-3, 198-pound national recruit was the 2014 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year as the top high school football player in the state of Maryland. If the blue-chip recruit were to choose Rutgers come Friday, it could open the flood gates to many of the highly-regarded prospects that are considering Rutgers in both New Jersey and Maryland.
