Feature USWNT: Jill Ellis Signs What Is being called “multiyear” extension, will Guide team for Next World Cup Cycle by Jayson Love August 5, 2015 from fifawallpapers Jill Ellis, who famously navigated the United States to the World Cup title just a month ago, has as expected, been announced as the coach for the next World Cup cycle, and next year’s Olympics in Rio. Sunil Gulati, president of US Soccer, and Ellis held a conference call this afternoon to discuss the extension. Among the highlights of the call, Ellis spoke about Olympic qualifying. She stated that the USWNT has 4 games in December followed by a long January camp and then Olympic qualifying at dates that will be determined. She stated that Tony Gustavsson would be scouting European games for Americans playing in Europe and believes that US Soccer development is strong and that Morgan Brian is proof that the developmental system in place “works”. During the World Cup, development of players to carry the torch for this team so to speak, had been called into question. Sunil Gulati wouldn’t be specific with regards to how long the contract is simply stating that he wanted her to coach for “multiple years”.
