GAMING Victory Formation: Week 9 NFL betting predictions that will win you money by Brian Sausa November 6, 2020 We’re officially at the halfway point of the football season as we enter Week 9 and we’re celebrating the way we always do, with some NFL betting predictions. Sunday is the best day of the week for football fans and online sportsbooks in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and several other states. Sites are giving fans tons of wagering options, and bettors are responding by taking huge action every week of the NFL season. Below, we’re previewing a few different games and providing some predictions along with a Week 9 NFL teaser you can take to the bank when it’s all said and done. Ravens vs. Colts Picks | AFC Contenders Clash In Indianapolis One game getting a ton of attention this week is Baltimore visiting Indianapolis to take on the Colts. After opening as three-point favorites, the Ravens are now favored by 1.5 or 2 points at most sportsbooks despite receiving public support. From a betting perspective, the reverse line movement indicates that professional bettors could be part of the public minority wagering on Indianapolis, bringing the line closer to zero as opposed to pushing it further away. Both teams are sporting a 5-2 record but the Colts are the team in better form. Quality defenses have given Ravens QB Lamar Jackson some trouble and the Colts are exactly that with Darius Leonard back in the fold. On offense, Indy has put up 31+ points in two straight games while Baltimore has given up 28 in each of the last two. We’d consider going right to the moneyline (+110 at DraftKings) or buying the Colts up to +3 if possible. Inflating the line with a teaser could also be an option. Jets vs. Patriots Predictions | Week 9 MNF Picks Football fans aren’t exactly being treated to a great prime-time matchup when the Patriots visit the Jets on Monday night, but it still presents one last betting opportunity in Week 9. The winless Jets have been a team to fade, going just 1-7 against the spread so far this season. At the same time, New England has lost four in a row and been dreadful on the road except for last week’s three-point loss in Buffalo. This pick depends on the status of Sam Darnold, regardless of anyone’s personal opinion of him as a quarterback. If Darnold is in, Gang Green has a chance of keeping this thing closer than some expect. Buffalo is indeed much better than the Jets, but New York’s defense is actually much more stout against the run. Cam Newton has been struggling and New England relied on nearly 200 yards on the ground against the Bills, which it won’t be able to do against a decent Jets run defense. Getting a touchdown or more, we’d take a shot with the Jets, as New York is currently +7 (-105) at DraftKings and +7.5 (-115) at FanDuel. But the Patriots are still likely to pull this one out, so either team can be a teaser candidate. NFL Betting Predictions: Week 9 Teaser Picks Aside from single-game bets, there are a few other types including teasers. These bets contain multiple selections that allow the bettor to alter the odds in whatever direction they choose. These bets can only be made with spreads and totals, and sportsbooks offer teasers of 6, 6.5, and 7 points when it comes to NFL games. Using lines from FanDuel, we can craft a three-team teaser with seven points added to each side for overall odds of +120. Here are our Week 9 teaser picks: Houston Texans +0.5 (originally -6.5): The Texans’ facility was forced to close earlier this week and threw a wrench into their routine, but we still think they come out of the bye and take care of business against a lesser Jaguars team with a banged-up quarterback. Las Vegas Raiders +8.5 (originally +1.5): Las Vegas is brimming with confidence and moving the ball efficiently on offense, and the Chargers just blew a massive fourth-quarter lead in Week 8. Even if Los Angeles rebounds, the Raiders keep this within eight points. Steelers-Cowboys Over 34.5 (originally +41.5): The undefeated Steelers are on a roll and are going to have a field day against this defense. Pittsburgh could near 30 on its own, which would leave just a few points needed from Dallas and whoever plays quarterback. Of course, Steelers -7 (down from -14) in a teaser works as well.
