Quinnen Williams selected by NY Jets with Third Overall Pick

The New York Jets have focused on  defense with their first round pick by selecting defensive tackle Quinnen Williams.

Williams wowed draft scouts this past season with Alabama, with 71 total tackles and eight sacks, and will be called upon to come to a rebuilding Jets team, that displayed last season that they needed to solidify their defense.  The Jets’ defensive line last season was subpar, as Leonard Williams was the only true threat, and they now have another defensive lineman that can be a star player, alongside All-Pro safety Jamal Adams, and the Jets recent addition of C.J. Mosley.

Williams has the potential to be a star defensive tackle, as he has the quickness and strength to break past offensive linemen. It will be a completely different animal to translate those skills into the NFL, especially after one breakout season in college, but with his size and in the right defense, which the Jets seem to have so far, Williams will most likely thrive with the Jets.

All in all, the Jets made the right pick, since last season gave them a direction for the future, by drafting Sam Darnold. Darnold was able to display his skills last year, but now the Jets have the future set on defense.
