34th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner Honors Former NFL Linebacker Nick Buoniconti

Monday, October 7, was a night for the ages, as sports legends and celebrities came out to New York City Hilton Midtown to celebrate the 34th Annual Great Sports Legends Dinner hosted by the Tudor Group and the Mack Family.

The night commenced with an introduction from Emmy Award winning Cris Collinsworth. Collinsworth played his professional career with the Cincinnati Bengals, and now is a commentator for the National Football League.

Monday’s dinner was in honor of former NFL linebacker Nick Buoniconti for his efforts with the Miami Project. Buoniconti was inspired by his son Marc who suffered an unfortunate spinal cord injury that would leave him paralyzed. This sparked his passion to aid the development of paralysis.

In 1985 Nick Buoniconti and Barth A. Green established The Miami Project. The two worked with a great deal of effort to raise awareness and bring change to the treatment and research of paralysis and spinal cord injuries.

This year will be the first year that the Christine E. Lynn Rehabilitation Center will be open for use in Miami, Florida. Starting in February 2020 the Clinical Research and Clinical Care Department will be able to work together to give newly injured people the best care possible.

Marc Buoniconti stated while on stage, “In your last days I looked into your eyes and promised you we will never quit”. Events like this help the project flourish, while making Marcs promise become a reality.

Awards:

Congressman Jim Langevin – ( The Buoniconti Fund’s 2019 Inspiration Award. )

Suzie Sayfie – (The Buoniconti Fund Award.)

Stephanie Sayfie Aagaard – (The Buoniconti Fund Award.)
