College Delaware Valley Overpowers FDU-Florham 50-21 by Staff Post October 31, 2016 (Photo via FDUDevils.com) Delaware Valley University proved to be too much for FDU-Florham, as the Aggies cruised to a 50-21 victory over the Devils Friday night in Doylestown, PA. The Aggies improve to 6-2 on the season (5-2 MAC) while FDU dropped their third straight, leaving them with a 2-6 overall record (2-5 MAC). Another fast start by their opponent doomed the Devils, as the Aggies held a 22-0 lead after the first quarter, and extended the lead to 29-0 before the Devils scored their first points on a Robert Young 1-yard touchdown run with just over a minute remaining in the first half. The Devils were unable to carry the momentum forward, however, as another untimely turnover on the opening possession of the second half gave the ball back to Delaware Valley. The teams traded touchdowns in the third quarter, with Young again finding the end zone on a short run late in the period. The Aggies added two more fourth quarter touchdowns, putting the game safely out of reach, before the Devils’ sophomore running back reached the end zone on yet another short run for the third time that evening. Young would end the game with 46 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. The Aggies held the Devils’ passing offense in check, as FDU was unable to find the end zone through the air. QB Joey McCain completed 28 of 50 passes for 279 yards and an interception. WR Mike Panzarino caught 12 balls for a total of 191 yards. Defensively, linebackers Isaiah Turner and Trey Smith each made seven total tackles, with Smith adding a forced fumble. The Aggies were led on offense by sophomore QB Dashawn Darden (14-30, 118 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 10 carries, 80 yards, 1 TD) and senior RB Robert Cleveland (14 carries, 104 yards, 1 TD). Defensively, freshman DB Jarren McBryde posted nine total tackles and a forced fumbled. Delaware Valley, currently tied for third in the MAC standings, hosts Lycoming (3-5, 2-5 MAC) this coming Saturday, November 5. The Devils closeout their home schedule when they return to Robert T. Shields this Saturday to host Lebanon Valley (2-6, 2-5 MAC). Game time is 1 p.m. Post Views: 1,086 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Staff Post Latest posts by Staff Post (see all) In The Zone Announces Initial Podcast Lineup - November 13, 2020 The Essential Resources You Need to Start Your Own Gym in 2020 - February 6, 2020 Wilder vs Fury II – How the second fight will be different to the first? - February 5, 2020 Early turnovers, defensive struggles plague the Scarlet Knights - January 26, 2020 Related TopicsCollege FootballDelaware ValleyDevilsFDU-Florham Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
