This Sunday, the road to WrestleMania starts at the Royal Rumble. WWE’s annual event takes place in the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas this year, and its expected to be one of the most unpredictable Rumble’s in WWE history. Always thinking ahead, WWE already has plans for their next installment of the Royal Rumble.

The 2018 Royal Rumble will take place in Philadelphia on January 28th inside the Wells Fargo Center. Philly.com was the first to break the news. The area will also host all major WWE shows before and after the Rumble. Raw and SmackDown Live will be at the Wells Fargo Center on January 29th and 30th, while an NXT TakeOver event will be on January 27th.

Ticket information for all the events have not been announced yet.

John Saboor, WWE’s executive vice president of special events, made sure to praise the Philadelphia area for its rich history with WWE. He stated:

“WWE has enjoyed a very special relationship with the city and its fans over decades, and that important heritage made Philadelphia a very natural choice to host this unprecedented four-night celebration. Our decision to place next year’s Royal Rumble celebration in Philadelphia is truly another exciting and important step in the continued growth of WWE’s four largest annual events.”

The last time the Royal Rumble was in Philadelphia was 2015, when Roman Reigns won the opportunity to challenge for the WWE World Title at WrestleMania. While this year is the 30th Royal Rumble, 2018 will be considered the 30th anniversary of the event by WWE. There is no doubt they will go all out to commemorate the anniversary.

Next year should be very exciting, especially with how passionate Philadelphia fans can be. In the meantime, this year’s Royal Rumble is sure to be one to remember.
