Boxing Wilder and Porter Were Brilliant In Barclays Performance by Jason Cordner November 6, 2017 Wilder and Porter Were Brilliant In Barclays Performance Showtime Boxing bought a championship card to the Barclays Center, along with some hard hitting action. ‘The Bronze Bomber’ Deontay Wilder showed devastating power as he knocked down mandatory challenger Stiverne three times before the referee mercifully waved off the championship bout. httpss://youtu.be/mS4i7a-L-9M Wilder first knocked Stiverne to the ground with a devastating one-two combination that caught the Haitian challenger on the nose. Seconds after Stiverne got back to his feet, Wilder landed another clean combination with a big left and an overhand right that sent a stunned Stiverne back to the canvas. The final blow came in the waning moments of the opening round as Wilder landed four clean punches to the face of a wobbly Stiverne. “You have to give props to Stiverne for getting in the ring,” said Wilder. “It takes a lot of courage and it takes a lot of pride to step in the ring with someone like me. We do what we have to do in the ring and at least he stepped up. He was a clean fighter.” The demolishing victory marks the unbeaten Alabama knockout-artist’s sixth successive defence of the coveted green and gold belt and Wilder now wants a unification showdown with Anthony Joshua. “A king doesn’t chase the peasants. A king takes kings. I want Joshua. If he doesn’t give me the fight we have other plans. The world wants Joshua, the world wants Wilder, I want Joshua. Joshua come and see me baby. No more dodging, no more excuses. Make the date, don’t wait.” “No heavyweight can compare to me, I move like a middleweight. the things I can do in the ring and what I see is crazy, I’ m very confident in what I do. “I’ve been waiting on the fight for a long time, listen ‘AJ’, I declare war on you. I’ve been waiting for a long time. I know I’m the champion, I know I’m the best, are you up for the test?” This is the heavyweight championship fight boxing need. Too much money to be made for this fight not to happen. Shawn Porter Defeats Adrian Granados Former welterweight world champion Shawn Porter (28-2-1, 17 KOs) defeated Adrian Granados (18-6-2, 11 KOs) via unanimous decision (scored 117-111 by all three judges) in an exciting fight between two all-action competitors that served as the co-featured event of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING. The victory makes Porter the mandatory title challenger for unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman’s WBC belt. Porter and Granados both came to fight, which is exactly what was expected, but this was a fight that had a clear winner, and the scores were on the money. Granados showboated and fought his heart out and ate some big shots from Porter, but he never consistently created the offense needed to sway the win rounds. That’s not to say that Granados didn’t do some good work. He did, but Porter’s was better overall, and Granados spent much of the night fighting a style that benefited his opponent’s game plan. Porter, who injured his left hand in the sixth round, landed the sharper and more accurate punches throughout the fight, including 40 percent of his power punches. Both fighters came out aggressive in the early rounds and exchanged several powerful blows. “He gave me a little trouble here and there,” said Porter. “I hurt my left hand in the sixth round, but I kept using it. I had to use my jab. It took a toll on me and by the 10th round I just couldn’t throw it anymore. Granados didn’t believe he lost the fight. Granados complained that he deserved to win the fight, which was booed by the crowd in Brooklyn. “I thought that I was controlling the fight and keeping up with him the whole time.”Granados said after the fight. He was just trying to use his normal tricks. I rocked him multiple times and he never had me in any trouble.” Post Views: 1,443 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Jason Cordner Latest posts by Jason Cordner (see all) Lebron James Leaves Coca-Cola To Sign With Pepsi - March 22, 2021 WNBA Rolling Out Red Carpet For Upcoming 25th Anniversary Season - March 16, 2021 Nike Partners with National Urban League to Promote Employment and Home Ownership for the Black Community - March 15, 2021 Rob Gronkowski Gets In On NFT Collection Movement, Becomes First Athlete To Do So - March 10, 2021 Related TopicsAdrian GranadosBarclays CenterBoxingDeontay WilderShawn Porter Click to comment You must be logged in to post a comment Login Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
