Boxing Junior Featherweight’s in action: Dogboe to defend his title against Navarrete inside MSG Both young stars will be beaming as they fight under the bright lights of New York City. by Daniel Yanofsky October 19, 2018 Top Rank is trying to stack up their December 8th card featuring Vasyl Lomachenko v. Jose Pedraza, and they may have just done so in a big way. It was announced that Isaac Dogboe will defend his WBO Junior Featherweight Title against contender Emanuel Navarrete. Both fighters have the skillset and determination to thrive inside Madison Square Garden. For Dogboe (20-0), this will be his second title defense since beating Jessie Magdaleno for the title back in April. In a press release, Dogboe had the following to say: “Put me among the best, and you’ll see the best of Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe. We love the New York crowd. That’s what will motivate us and make us fight harder. Madison Square Garden is a legendary place. It’s a place where many fighters were made. Lomachenko and Pedraza are great fighters and being featured on a show with other great fighters is an honor. We are ready to roll. And to my fans, trust me, the ‘Royal Storm’ is coming to entertain!” This fight is also his fourth this year. Only 24, Dogboe is becoming a true workhorse within the boxing world. He signed an exclusive deal with Top Rank earlier this month. Dogboe is pretty familiar with fighting on cards with the main event contender, Pedraza. Back in August, Dogboe knocked out Hidenori Otake before Pedraza’s Lightweight World Title fight against Ramundo Beltran. Another young gun, Navarrete’s (25-1) last and only loss came in 2012. Since then, he is on a 20-fight win streak. He also showed some excitement when talking about fighting in New York. I feel very happy and motivated by this opportunity, even more, because of fighting in New York City. I know that from Dec. 8 forward, the name Emanuel Navarrete will be known all around the world. I’m sure this win will be mine.” The 23-year-old Navarrete has 22 knockout wins in his career. Dogboe is expected to be his most challenging opponent yet. If he can work past the champion, the kid from Mexico will be in a class of his own. Top Rank’s special card on December 8 will take place inside MSG’s Hulu Theater. The event will be televised on ESPN at 9 p.m. ET. Tickets for Lomachenko/Pedraza and Dogboe/Navarrete are on sale now and can be purchased via Ticketmaster.com and the MSG box office.
