Boxing Brooklyn’s Jarrell Miller on quick turnarounds, preparing for Bogdan Dinu “Big Baby” will look to cement his legacy as he fights for the WBA Heavyweight Title on DAZN. by Daniel Yanofsky November 16, 2018 When it comes to the cream of the crop, Jarrell Miller believes he is that guy in boxing. Miller (22-0-1) has fought in seven fights since 2016, and has knocked out four opponents during that time. He will look to keep his momentum going as he faces off against Bogdan Dinu on Saturday, November 17 for the vacant WBA Heavyweight Title. Before Daniel Jacobs and Heather Hardy made history inside Madison Square Garden, Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing announced the ultimate card for the promotion. During the press conference, Miller talked about the opportunity ahead of him. The Brooklyn native kept it simple, staying in business mode until the fight. “Credit to Bogdan for taking the fight – I’m fighting people I have no animosity to!” Miller stated. “He’s undefeated, he’s been in camp for a fight last weekend, so I know he’s in shape. it’s been a long journey to get to where we are today, I’m finally at the stage where I am getting that title shot and being in a place to fight the big guys. The proof is in the pudding, being big is not a crime. Big Baby is big and I’m going to keep throwing big punches and getting big wins.” Double G Sports had the opportunity to speak to “Big Baby” after the press conference. A hot commodity, Miller is looking to increase his exposure with one of the biggest wins of his career. Double G Sports: Is there any pressure added onto this fight compared to your last fight in October against Tomasz Adamek? Jarrell Miller: No, no, no. I feel actually great. When you come off of a good victory like that, you don’t want to stay out of the gym for too long. It is always good to have the next fight date in the back of your mind, it gives you a different mentality. The main thing is going into Kansas and repeating what I did on October 6. DGS: Is there anything different you did to mentally/physically prepare you for this bout? JM: The main thing you need to do is some post-fight therapy. I’m talking about your jacuzzi’s, hot tubs, etc. Some of the workouts are harder than usual but you have to always pick it up. I just recently hit the weights four days in a row. Next time out we are doing cardio and then its hardcore for the next few weeks. DGS: How does it feel to be a fan of the sport, watching fights take place before it is your turn? JM: One of the best feelings I can tell you is two days after the fight. All of the stress it off, relax and have some time for yourself. We all want that high back right away, but it no problem waiting. I don’t really think about the other fights. It is always game time before fight time. DGS: You’ve fought in Chicago, New York, Arizona, etc. Any feeling about a different atmosphere in Kansas? JM: It is always the responsibility of the fighter to take advantage of whatever is in their way. I’ll get there five days in advance, get rid of the jet lag, get a vibe for the city and get ready for war. DGS: What makes you so different compared to any opponent Dinu has faced? JM: He’s never been there with any guy close to what I bring to the table. He has a good record, but guys that he has fought weren’t so great. He’s ranked up there in the division but that doesn’t mean much to me. In Kansas, I’m going to impose my will and get him out of there. “Big Baby” will look to wow the audience inside the Kansas Star Arena and Casino in Mulvane, Kansas on Saturday, November 17. You can catch Miller v. Dinu for the WBA Heavyweight Title exclusively on DAZN. Post Views: 1,009 The following two tabs change content below.BioLatest Posts Daniel Yanofsky Baseball Editor, Misc.
