Basketball An organization in Crisis: Fizdale at risk of dismissal by Stefano Bentivogli December 5, 2019 The feeling resonating from the New York Knicks is in fact that David Fizdale will soon be out of the organization. Fizdale risks paying dearly for the disastrous start to the Knicks season. The Knicks have only won four games thus far, losing 17. A tough start was expected, but this is absurd. For this reason, the Knicks could decide to dismiss Fizdale. In fact, Ian Begley of the NBA Insider reported receiving definite news from the Knicks management that the team will be moving on from Fizdale in the coming days. Fizdale’s short lived experience as the Knicks’ head coach is likely to have come to an end. The franchise in Jeopardy The defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks was likely the last straw. Already after the clear defeat against Cleveland, the first rumors about the possible Fizdale exemption had begun to circulate. Scott Perry and President Steve Mills spoke after that defeat: “Obviously Scott and I are not happy with where we are right now. We think the team is not playing at the level we expected and this is something we all have to work together to produce on the floor what we wanted at the beginning of the season.” The organization has performed far below par, and as result the organization is once again teetering on the bottom of the league. While the front office may be putting on Fizdale on the chopping block, Knicks president Steve Mills and GM Scott Perry may also have a target on their back. At this point, the entire front office may be fair game. In Conclusion David Fizdale is in the hot seat and his position may be less certain than ever. The management has reaffirmed confidence in Fizdale during his duration, but now is carefully assessing the situation. In an era of losing under Fizale, with his contract set to expire next season, Fizdale’s days in New York may be numbered.
