Rutgers Football: Club Ice Part Two

After “Club Ice” was a hit during last year’s training camp featuring a party-like atmosphere while the players were recovering in the ice tubs, Rutgers head football coach Kyle Flood hinted after practice on Aug. 18 that he had something fun this summer for the players up his sleeve.

“We got a couple things in store during training camp,” Flood said smiling. “I don’t want to reveal it, but keep your eyes open and you’ll see a few things we’ve got going on.”

That time has come.

After their scrimmage last Saturday night, Flood put together a bigger and better “Club Ice 2015” with an introduction of a disc jockey in DJ Frankie Steel.

In other news Rutgers football will have four captains for their 2015 campaign. Seniors Darius Hamilton, Paul James, Leonte Carroo, and Quentin Gause were voted as captains by their teammates.

Hamilton was a captain as a junior while Carroo, Gause, and James are first-timers. The defensive tackle from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey is set to anchor the defensive line and be the leader of the defense. Gause is vocal and a solid run-stuffing strong side linebacker.

Carroo tested NFL waters at wide receiver but ultimately chose to return to school after catching 55 passes for 1,086 yards a year ago.

James, the oft-injured running back, is set to lead a strong pack of running backs and said his knee “feels great” at Media Day two weeks ago after he recovered from a torn ACL suffered last fall.
