Fordham Tops Penn Before Homecoming Crowd

The Fordham Rams did not disappoint their Homecoming crowd Saturday, completing a 31-17 win 0ver the University of Pennsylvania.

Chase Edmonds ran for 152 yards to go along with 49 receiving, while scoring four touchdowns. Edmonds scored three times in the first half alone. Fordham got 231 yards and one touchdown from quarterback Kevin Anderson. Max Roberts led the team with three sacks, two of them strip sacks.

After starting the season with two games against schools from different levels — FBS school Navy and Division II school Elizabeth City State University — UPenn was Fordham’s first FCS opponent. Unlike the first two games, both of which were blowouts, the Homecoming matchup was tightly contested.

Penn responded late in the third on an Alek Torgersen 2-yard plunge which cut the score to 24-17. The Quakers (0-2) had an opportunity to tie it late but were turned away on downs at the Fordham 27-yard line.

The Rams scored the final points of the game on the ensuing drive. Anderson finally completed a long pass, a 57-yarder to sophomore receiver Austin Longi. This set Edmonds up for his fourth and final touchdown with 5:31 left, bringing the score to the final of 31-17.

Overall, the Rams have completely turn things around from the awful performance against Navy.

The Fordham Rams will be back in action next Saturday, Oct. 1, on the road against Monmouth University. The Rams return home to host Lafayette on Oct. 8th.
