FeatureLI’s Gian Villante in the works to face ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC Fight Night in Brazil by Kristine Haugsjaa January 6, 2017 Above: Gian Villante Credit: MMAJunkie.comShortly after picking up a second round TKO victory last month, UFC light heavyweight Gian Villante is reportedly in the works to face Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua at UFC Fight Night Foraleza in Fortaleza, Brazil on March 11th, according to MMAFighting.com.Rua (24-10) is currently on a three-fight win streak in Brazil, coming off wins over Corey Anderson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Villante (15-7) went 1-1 in 2016, starting off the year at UFC 196 with a decision loss over Ilir Latifi in March and closing out 2016 with a TKO victory over UFC newcomer Saparbek Safarov on December 9th at UFC Fight Night 101 in Albany, NY.The promotion has not made an official announcement for the bout.
