MMA Marketing Tag Team Champions of the World: McGregor & White Strike Again by Kristine Haugsjaa September 21, 2016 Photo Credit: USAToday.com Tuesday night, Twitter (more specifically Khabib’s small army) went retweet happy over UFC President Dana White’s reply to a fan that UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez will not face UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden on Nov 12th, instead #1 ranked lightweight Khabib Nurmagomedov. UFC President Dana White’s reply on Twitter I have a couple problems with this. Not that Alvarez is allegedly facing undefeated Nurmagomedov (who fought once in the last two years to a guy making his UFC debut at a 160 catchweight) but the headache this is giving me over the idea that this could be true and that it was confirmed by White on Twitter after answering a random fan with 200 followers. Don’t we know how this game works by now? Dana denies = It’s happening. Why are we all falling for this? But then this happened early Wednesday morning… Conor McGregor’s Twitter account *insert thinking emoji* Is there another trick up the sleeves of the Marketing Tag Team Champions of the World: McGregor & White? Hype for a super fight for the Notorious one? An expected-Khabib back out and McGregor to the rescue? Eight weeks out now, someone needs to confirm something. Even it’s through TMZ again.
