Soccer NWSL Rookie Report: Aubrey Bledsoe by Staff Post July 29, 2015 Former Wake Forest star Aubrey Bledsoe is looking to make a name for herself in the National Women’s Soccer League. Signing with Sky Blue FC in the beginning of October 2014, Aubrey received her first professional minutes against the Boston Breakers on July 25th, entering the game in the 81st minute for Brittany Cameron. This was just the beginning of a hopefully stellar career for this skydiving, adrenaline junkie. Photo Courtesy: Robyn McNeil You got your first minutes tonight [Sunday], how did it feel stepping onto the field? It was great to finally get some playing time. I was waiting for my opportunity and the team did great today, got us a nice three goal lead, so I got the opportunity to get in. Obviously I wish I could’ve gotten the shut out for the team but everyone was really supportive and was really happy to see me get in. You didn’t enter the NWSL Draft, why? I didn’t enter the draft last year so I could play overseas. I finished graduation at Wake Forest University. That way when I came back from overseas, no one would have my rights. What’s the biggest adjustment you’ve had to make entering the league? I would say in terms of keeping possession, even being a goalkeeper, not supposed to boot it down the field, it’s everything posess, keep the ball. It’s not necessarily the speed of play but everything is perfect, everything is playing their lead foot, two touch, get it moving, so just making everything that next level, 100%. Your sister was also a goalkeeper, who was better? We both had our different strengths. We definitely pushed each other in every way, in speed, everything from the aspect of the game and athletics. What was it like growing up with her and how did that make you a better player? We were just super competitive in anything we did, whether it be academics, athletics. We always had to kind of one up the other. Just doing that we both climbed to the top and excelled in a lot of different things. You’ve skydived before. What made you want to sky dive? I love adventure and I’ve been wanting to do it. I turned 18 and I went with a friend. It was great, I’d do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you to Aubrey for speaking with us at Double G Sports.
