College Pride Talk; Men and Women Pride heading in opposite directions by Chris Passarelli January 12, 2019 Unfortunately for Hofstra Pride WBB fans, the women’s team is heading in the wrong direction. The team is just 6-9 on the season, their latest loss coming at the hands of James Madison 77-54. Boogie Brozoski scored 20+ points once again, tallying 22 in the loss. The loss also sends the women’s team to the bottom of the CAA standings, winless in their three contests so far and falling fast. What’s been the biggest issue for the WBB? The lack of scoring outside of Brozoski. Without Boogie Brozoski leading the pack, the women’s team doesn’t know how to score. They’re constantly being outplayed by their opposition because they’re a one trick pony. They can still make the NCAA Tournament with a CAA Tournament win, but with each loss their hopes of making the post-season become slimmer and slimmer. On the flip side, with every passing game the men’s basketball team is looking more dangerous. Although the men are a one trick pony also, they’re a very good rebounding team and can get help from people other than Justin Wright-Foreman when needed. Justin Wright-Foreman is one of the most underrated players in the entire country, and with him they can lead their way through the CAA and hopefully make the NCAA Tournament. Their latest win was a 93-90 thriller in triple overtime against a competitive William & Mary team. The unsung hero of that game? Jalen Ray. Ray scored 19 points and scored a dagger three pointer to seal the game. He showed that there’s someone other than JWF that could be relied upon in crunch time.
