The United Way of New York had their 22nd annual Gridiron Gala on Tuesday, May 12 at the New York Hilton Midtown. The United Way of New York helps to mobilize communities to break down barriers and build opportunities. Every year, the New York Jets and Giants come together to appreciate those that devoted their time to benefiting and uplifting the community. This year Quinton Coples, linebacker, New York Jets and Prince Amukamara, cornerback, New York Giants were honored as two examples of excellence, both on and off the field.

This gala was truly a night to celebrate and uplift. Through the wonderful donations and silent auction, funds were raised to support the programs of the United Way and the communities they serve. Coach Tom Coughlin who received the MVP award said it best; “You can’t have significance in life if it is all about you”

Since its establishment in 1973, the Gridiron Gala has raised more than $20 million to support New York’s at-risk populations. In partnership with the Jets and Giants, United Way of New York City created the Gridiron Gala to celebrate the venerable partnership between the NFL and the United Way.
