Soccer Red Bulls Bounce Back With a Major Victory Wright-Phillips scored twice. by Staff Post September 1, 2015 After their stumble against the Chicago Fire last Wednesday, the Red Bulls responded in a big way when they took on D.C. United on Sunday! The Red Bulls made light work of the top team in the East by scoring three times in a half hour to secure three major points in the Eastern Conference standings. There was no part of the stat sheet that the Red Bulls didn’t dominate on Sunday night (except for saves, because the Red Bulls had eight shots on target to D.C.’s two). In fact there was only 25 minutes of the match where D.C. held more possession than the Red Bulls did. The rest of the time the Red Bulls enjoyed comfortable amounts of the ball. Bradley Wright-Phillips had two goals and Lloyd Sam bagged one as well as the Red Bulls cut D.C.’s lead atop the East to just two points. The Red Bulls also have three games in hand on D.C. so the Red Bulls have a very good opportunity to climb to the top of the Eastern Conference very soon. The Red Bulls will have a chance to avenge their previous loss when they take on the Chicago Fire at Red Bull Arena on Friday September 11 (following the international break.) That match will be at 7:00PM on Univision.
