Soccer Red Bulls Drop Tough Match in Chicago NYRB falls to last place Fire by Staff Post August 27, 2015 (Via Chicago-Fire.com) It started out well enough for the Red Bulls on Wednesday night at Toyota Park in Chicago. In the 10th minute Sacha Kljestan converted a penalty to give the Red Bulls a 1-0 lead, but this was a case of scoring too early for the Red Bulls as the Chicago Fire came out strong after that. A previously struggling team, the Fire would score twice in a span of 19 minutes from the 22nd of the match through the 41st minute to take a 2-1 lead. During this time they easily could have added even more to the lead as they held large amounts of possession in the mid to late first half, and at one point, had four corners in a row that nearly lead to a goal if not for a fantastic save by Luis Robles. Early in the second half, the Red Bulls leveled the score through Ronald Zubar with an assist from Kljestan, who had himself a fine game. However, the chance to get points on the road vanished when 24 minutes later Kennedy Igboananike got his second goal of the game for the Fire and gave them a 3-2 lead and the Red Bulls could not claw back and obtain a third goal. It was certainly a bad loss on the road for the Red Bulls as the Fire are tied for last plac in MLS and the Red Bulls missed a fantastic opportunity to get to within two points of first place D.C. United. As a result of dropping this match, the Red Bulls next game will not be a battle for first place. It will still be a massive chance for the Red Bulls to make a statement, however, as they take on D.C. United at Red Bulls Arena on Sunday August 30th at 7:00pm EST on Fox Sports One.
