College Rutgers 2016 Quarterback Commit Makes Elite 11 by Staff Post July 12, 2015 Despite the long-shot odds, Rutgers 2016 quarterback commit Anthony Russo proved his low recruiting ranking – or all rankings – don’t mean a thing. The Archbishop Wood (Pa.) product was named an Elite 11 quarterback after a strong showing at the Elite 11 Finals as part of The Opening. httpss://twitter.com/Elite11/status/619699164243333121 Russo’s performance throughout the week at the Nike World Headquarters in Oregon earned him a spot amongst the most talented high school quarterbacks in the nation. The two-star recruit by Rivals and three-star by the 247Sports Composite was ranked as high as second going into day four of competition earlier in the week. The 6-3, 225-pound signal caller chose the Scarlet Knights back in May, and was one of 18 to compete for a spot in the Elite 11, beating out other highly-touted recruits. Last fall, Russo threw for 1,551 yards and 22 touchdowns in an offense similar to Rutgers’, leading his team to a 14-1 record (4-0) and the PIAA AAA state championship.
