Soccer Sky Blue FC Begins Home and Home With Alex Morgan and Orlando Pride by Gregg Snyder September 7, 2016 (Photo by Jeff Auger – Double G Media) Wednesday night marks the first ever meeting between Sky Blue FC and Orlando Pride. The Pride was added as an NWSL expansion team this past offseason. The matchup is the first of a home and home series, with the second game taking place in Orlando on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7pm tonight at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University. Sky Blue FC (6-7-4, 22 points) is looking to get back on the winning side of things after going winless in their last three outings. The most recent contest resulted in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of FC Kansas City. Sam Kerr gave Sky Blue a lead but the New Jersey squad was unable to hold on. Orlando has lost five consecutive matches and was officially eliminated from playoff contention after their 4-2 defeat to Houston Dash. The Pride (6-11-0, 18 points) are led by team captain Alex Morgan and their top goal scorer, Kristen Edmonds. They may get some added help after the club signed Australian Women’s National Team captain Lisa De Vanna last week. De Vanna played her first season in the NWSL for Sky Blue FC in 2013 and ranks second all-time in Australia’s scoring history. Four are tied for the Sky Blue team lead with three goals scored.
