UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has officially become a licensed boxer in the state of California, according to MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani.

McGregor, who was the first two-division champion in UFC history for two weeks until recently being stripped of his featherweight title, has been toying with the media for months on the idea of a boxing super-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. While no legitimate contracts or dates have been mentioned, this seems like the first step in its direction.

“He got a license today and federal ID. He’s a California Boxer now,” California State Athletic Commission executive officer Andy Foster told MMAFighting.com Wednesday.

With a medical suspension and some time off as baby McGregor is on the way, is this the next conquest for the Notorious one when he returns?
