College Eli Pemberton earns first CAA Player of the Week honors by Chris Passarelli January 21, 2019 It’s not often that any name other than Justin Wright-Foreman is up on any awards list, but Hofstra may have a new budding star emerging under the wing of JWF. Eli Pemberton, a junior, earned his first CAA Player of the Week honors after an impressive two games, both victories over UNCW and Charleston. Pemberton averaged 25 PPG during the two contests, as well as 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He scored a game high 24 against UNCW and another game high 26 points at home against Charleston. The young Pemberton looks to continue the success throughout the season, and the award is a great honor for the junior. Pemberton is second on the team in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.2 PPG and 4.6 rebounds. The Hofstra men’s basketball team will need both Pemberton and multi-time award winner Justin Wright-Foreman to be scoring forces as they go on a three game road trip. Their next game is Thursday at James Madison, their toughest test so far.
