The ladies of the UFC are coming in strong to the Empire State!

Friday afternoon UFC VP of Public Relations Dave Sholler confirmed on Twitter that UFC Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejcyk will defend her title against #2 ranked Strawweight Karolina Kowalkiewicz. Also, former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miesha Tate is facing #8 ranked Bantamweight Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 in New York City at the famous Madison Square Garden.

Earlier Friday morning, Jedrzejcyk announced on social media she had signed her bout agreement but the details as to where and who would be announced at a later time.

Tate lost her title at UFC 200 in July to Amanda Nunes after defeating former champion Holly Holm early this year at UFC 196 in March. Pennington is coming off an unanimous decision victory at UFC 202 against Elizabeth Phillips.

Tate was Pennington’s coach on The Ultimate Fighter Season 18: Rousey vs. Tate but was eliminated from the tournament. Regardless, Pennington fought on the shows finale, defeating now-Invitca FC flyweight Roxanne Modafferi, earning herself a spot in the competitive women’s 135-division.
