Soccer NYCFC falls to New England Revolution 1-0 by Stefany Romero September 5, 2018 The boys in blue returned to Yankee stadium Wednesday night to face off against the New England Revolution. The first half seemed to favor the boys in blue as they concluded the first 45 minutes with three shots on target while New England had none. Even though NYCFC seemed to be raising momentum and got very close to the net at several points during the game, they concluded the first half with no goals. The second half commenced with Castellanos getting a Yellow card in the 47th minute and the boys in blue seemed to be more alert as they were very aggressive and approached New England territory quickly into the first five minutes of the 2nd half. In the 53rd minute of the game NYCFC completed their fourth shot on target as Sweat passed the ball to Villa but unforgivably the ball did not go in. The Revolution was not staying behind as New England Forward Brian Wright shot the ball into the net but gratefully for the boys in blue it was offsides. In the 60th minute of the game, Captain David Villa shot the ball and as it seemed to almost make it into the net it was deflected and didn’t make it in. Wright was left unsatisfied when his last goal was offsides and he returned in the 70th minute with a goal against NYCFC making the score 1-0. Alex Ring from NYCFC and Christian Padilla from Revolution received a yellow card in the 88th minute. Unfortunately at the end of the night, the boys in blue suffered a 1-0 defeat at home and they will continue their next game back on home turf on Saturday vs DC United. “If you know soccer you know once you score you’re all good but if you’re the team that hasn’t scored you’re stuck in uncertainty. This is soccer and you know the phrase that says if you forgive a lot you end up paying for that.. tonight we ended up paying,” stated Head Coach Domènec Torrent after the game when discussing tonight’s performance.
