College Peacocks Finish Third at International Golf Tournament in Ireland by Adrienne J. Romero October 24, 2017 The Saint Peter’s University’s men’s golf team flew over 3,000 miles on Saturday, Oct. 21, placing third, with a card of 332, in the Tip O’Neill Donegal Diaspora Golf Challenge in Ireland. The golf challenge was part of the sixth Annual Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Awards weekend in Donegal. The event was prepared as part of Donegal County Council’s Donegal Diaspora Project where awards are given out for those who have excelled in their specific field. The weekend festivities concluded with the golf challenge which was held at Ballyliffin Golf Course. Worcester State, the University of Massachusetts and several public and private sector teams joined SPU in the international tournament. Junior golfer Michael Stewart led the Peacocks with a card of 82. Mike Winter shot an 82, following Stewart, while Jeffrey Peters carded an 84 and Stanley Garrant with an 85. Letterkenny Institute of Technology resulted in winning the Tip O’Neill Perpetual Cup and Donegal County Council claimed the Donegal Diaspora Golf Challenge.
