College Rutgers Has a Nationally Ranked Lacrosse Team, a Contender in the Big Ten by Jayson Love March 9, 2016 from NBCphiladelphia.comRutgers’ head coach Brian Brecht has the Scarlet Knights men’s lacrosse team ranked number 16 and sitting at 5-0 this season. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights men’s lacrosse team showed glimpses of what it could be playing Maryland close, and pulling off the upset of Ohio State to close the season. This season, with high level play in the cage, and standout offensive performances by redshirt freshman Adam Charalambides, sophomore Jules Heningburg, and senior captain Scott Bieda, has the Knights undefeated and ranked in the NCAA top 20 and are averaging an over 5 goal margin of victory. In terms of Big Ten teams ranked in the top 20, the Knights trail just John’s Hopkins and Maryland, and sit ahead of Ohio State. The Knights have some impressive wins thus far this season, including a road win at Army, and defeating last season’s MAAC champions Fairfield. Coach Brian Brecht’s Scarlet Knights are 5-0, and next travel to Stonybrook for another test against the no. 20 ranked Stonybrook Seawolves and then, it’s a trip down Route 27 to face in state rival Princeton. Should the Knights come out of those two contests undefeated, they should find themselves in the top 10.
