The two schools’ women’s tennis teams met on Friday afternoon, and the Lady Scarlet Knights easily handled their in-state rival Highlanders. The win brings Rutgers up to a 3-2 record, while NJIT loses for the 7th time in eight tries. Rutgers junior Mariam Zein said it was all about focus. “We had to focus on what we could do and we had control over in this match, and that was fighting hard and doing what we have been practicing,” she told Rutgers media personnel Stephanie Mamakas. “It showed since we came out here and took care of business like we wanted to do.” The Scarlet Knights easily scored the doubles point with three consecutive victories over the Highlanders. They also went 6 for 6 in the singles match. Chloe Lee recorded the only perfect game against NJIT’s Alba Rosas Garcia 6-0 to claim the match following a 6-4 first game win.
