College Rutgers Women’s Hoops Looking to Get Back to NCAA Tournament by Stephen Ur November 12, 2015 Briyona Canty (ScarletKnights.com) The Rutgers women’s basketball team kicks off their season tomorrow night in a game against Saint Joseph’s in Philadelphia, PA. Last season, the team lost their second game of the Big Ten Tournament to the Northwestern Wildcats by a score of 62-57. Despite the loss, the Lady Knights were still able to play in the NCAA Tournament. They won their first game over Seton Hall by a score of 79-66, but when it came to playing against the UConn Huskies, they did not stand a chance. The Scarlet Knights lost to the #1 ranked Huskies by a score of 91-55. They finished with a record of 23-10 on the season. This season, they will look to reach the NCAA Tournament again and will also look to advance past the second round of the tournament. Their home opener will be on Nov. 19, when they take on St. John’s. The Knights will play against Tulane University, and the University of Virginia and Green Bay in St. Thomas from Nov. 26-Nov.28. They will also play five consecutive home games from Dec. 6 to New Year’s Eve, which is also when they begin their Big Ten play against the Minnesota Gophers. After their game against Minnesota, they will play Big Ten teams until the end of the season, which is one Feb. 28 in a home game against the Michigan Wolverines.
