If you’re looking for an exercise routine that gets you in shape, helps your cardiovascular health and promotes weight loss, then kickboxing may be right for you. Kickboxing provides a full-body workout that targets every muscle in your body, giving you an intense workout that will leave you feeling healthier and in the best shape of your life. It’s a combination of martial arts, boxing, and high-intensity aerobics that get’s your blood pumping. Here is a couple of things to think about if you are interested in this awesome exercise. Minimal Equipment Required One of the coolest aspects of kickboxing is that you don’t need a lot of equipment to reap the benefits of the exercise. Just gather a few essential items and you’ll be ready to kick and punch your way to a better body. One of the most important things you’ll need is an instructor. You can find one at a local gym, or you can buy or rent videos from places like Amazon for many different routines and sessions. Of course, once you get the hang of kickboxing, you can do it without an instructor, but it’s always a good idea to have someone pushing you, even if they are on a television screen! You will also need a punching bag and some boxing gloves. The bag should be a heavy bag so you get a good workout when you punch and kick it, or you can even buy a “dummy” at a local sporting goods store for a more realistic effect. The boxing gloves should be light and durable. And that’s it. It’s always nice to have the proper clothing as well so you aren’t restricted in your movements. Many Different Movements As mentioned before, kickboxing draws from aerobic exercises, martial arts and boxing, so you will be doing a lot of different movements during your sessions. You will need to be able to punch, kick, spin, jump and move around freely during your routine. Each movement is coordinated with others so it almost feels as if you are dancing. They are divided into drills and sequences that are designed to maximize your movements for the greatest health benefits. These movements are fairly advanced, so make sure your body can handle them. If you don’t think you can, you can start out slowly and work you way up to the full session. Many Benefits Kickboxing is a very vigorous and strenuous exercise routine, and as such you will reap many benefits from it. Not only does kickboxing promote muscle growth, it can really burn calories if you’re trying to lose weight, upward of 450 calories in one session. Since it’s very intense, it will also help improve your cardiovascular health as well. The exercise will also help your flexibility, endurance, and hand-eye coordination as well as your overall health. If you want to get in shape and lose weight fast, kickboxing may be the right exercise routine for you.
