College Hofstra’s Madeline Anderson Named 2015 College Freshman of the Year By Double G Media by Gregg Snyder January 26, 2016 Madeline Anderson (Hofstra Athletics) In one of the closest competitions of the 2015 Double G Sports Awards voting, Madeline Anderson of Hofstra Women’s Soccer was named the College Freshman of the Year. The defender appeared in 21 games, recording four goals and one assist. The Pride made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament before losing to Rutgers. They finished the year at 13-6-2. Anderson, a Westbury, NY native, was named to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Women’s Soccer All-Rookie Team. She was also named to the 2015 NSCAA All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team. With the early success, Hofstra head coach Simon Riddiough will be expecting Anderson to become one of the main leaders on the defensive end for the Pride.
