Lizards collect first win at home against Rattlers

It took five games but the New York Lizards are finally in the win column thanks to timely goals and great goaltending by Austin Kaut.  The Lizards held on for most of the game to a small lead and came away with a 13-9 victory over the Dallas Rattlers in front of the home crowd at Shuart Stadium on the grounds of Hofstra University.  The Saturday night contest pitted two new rivals against each other.  It was a hard fought battle but the Lizards were able to come away with their first victory of the season.

There were a few fresh faces in the lineup and two of them had big contributions.  Wantagh, NY native Ryan Walsh had a hat trick while rookie John Daniggelis scored his first career MLL goal.  Dylan Molloy added a hat trick as well, Kevin Crowley added two goals and Austin Kaut made 11 saves in the winning effort.

It was an especially big game for longtime veteran Rob Pannell, who became the all-time leading scorer in Lizards history with his fourth quarter assist on Scott Corcoran’s goal.  Pannell had five points total, including two goals, and his big night was capped off with a much needed victory by the Lizards.

Below is a nice compilation of Dylan Molloy’s hat tricks this season.  Hopefully the Lizards can keep it rolling, as they travel to Atlanta for a matchup with the Blaze on July 7th.
