Montclair Baseball Ends Season to Rutgers-Camden

Montclair State University’s baseball team played good baseball all throhghout their season, as they ended their regular season with the 5 seed in the NJAC Tournament. After losing to Kean University 3-2 in the first game on April 28, the Redbirds were looking to stay alive against the Rutgers University-Camden Scarlet Raptors.

The Scarlet Raptors dominated the game from the getgo, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, and another run in the top of the second inning. The rout was on, and Rutgers-Camden eliminated the Red Hawks with a 7-0 win.

Scarlet Raptors pitcher Billy Jackson only gave up 5 hits and one walk in a complete game effort. Michael Macchia, on the other hand, gave up 7 hits and 5 runs in just 3.1 innings pitched. The pitching of Macchia eventually led to the end of the Red Hawks’ season.
