New York City FC sign Héber from Rijeka

Finally the much sought after striker has arrived. After initially renouncing a natural striker, New York City FC decided to replace David Villa with a role striker. Héber Araujo dos Santos has indeed signed for New York City FC.

The Brazilian striker comes from HNK Rijeka where he scored 25 goals in 38 appearances in 2017. Instead this season, the goals scored were only 10 in all competitions played by Héber. The striker also has extensive international experience having played in the Champions League and in the Europa League.

Upon arriving in New York Heber told the official website of the Blues, to be very motivated for this new adventure:  “I’m feeling super motivated for this new challenge in my life. I hope to reach great things with my new teammates for this Club. When they showed me the project and what they plan to reach, those were the fundamental points that helped my decision to come to NYCFC. I saw the project and the whole structure, videos about the league and the city, these were all very important aspects. I’m sure it will be an amazing step in my career”.

Héber also made a promise to all the fans: “My message to all of NYCFC is that you can expect the best Héber can gave. A player with a lot of willpower, determination and strength on the pitch. I’ll give everything with this shirt, in order to achieve great results for our team.”

Héber finally arrives to reinforce the Torrent attack that even in recent weeks had declared that he expected the arrival of a n.9 that was missing to the team. With the arrival of Héber Torrent he will probably have to change the set-up of the team, but with an extra natural striker.
