Soccer Philadelphia Union back to their Old Ways in Loss to LA Galaxy by Jayson Love June 21, 2015 from: wallpapers-junction.com Things aren’t always as good as they seem when a team is going well and aren’t as bad as they look when a team is going poorly. Certainly, there is a bit of that sentiment in play as the Union were obliterated by LA Galaxy 5-1 in a match where the Union were badly outclassed. There is no question that the Galaxy are the class of MLS and on any given night, could beat any team in the league as they beat the Union last night. The alarming thing was how open Union were at the back constantly being caught with too many players forward. Although one could argue Philly had to push to score once they found themselves down a goal on Baggio Husidic‘s 23d minute strike, the Union weren’t able to keep their shape as they were goaded into attacking by LA. LA allowed Philadelphia over 50% of possession which although looks good on paper, was really LA’s way of controlling the counters. Drawing Philly’s backs and midfield up, the Galaxy was able to hit the Union with precise counters en route to a 5-1 victory that saw the Union defense split open time after time. The Union simply can’t play forward all the time with their issues at the back and will need to get back to the way they played New York Red Bulls on the road last month.
