The Rutgers Scarlet Knights women’s soccer team took on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten women’s soccer semifinals Friday afternoon.

The winner of the match would be set to play the winner of the game between Penn State and Michigan, which was set to begin right after the RU-Ohio State matchup, in the Big Ten women’s soccer tournament final on Sunday.

The first goal of the game came in the eighth minute when Colby Ciarroca succeeded on a shot off of a deflection from an Ohio State defender. The goal was her fifth goal in her last six matches. She now leads the team with eight goals on the season.

In the 39th minute, the Knights took a 2-0 lead when Jen Andersen scored a goal off of an Ohio State turnover.

This was her second career goal and the first since Aug. 22, 2014 in a game against Stony Brook.

The score would remain 2-0 at the half.

The defense kept the Ohio State Buckeyes out of the net, and Rutgers completed the shutout, with a  2-0 scoreline.

Penn State defeated Michigan in the nightcap, and the Nittany Lions will host Rutgers in the Big Ten final on Sunday, November 8th.
