St. Peter’s Men’s Soccer To Face Fairfield on Wednesday Night

Saint Peter’s University Peacocks men’s soccer (1-7-2, 0-4) will make their way back to Connecticut to face-off against the Fairfield University Stags (6-4-1, 2-1-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 11. Kick-off will take place between the two at Lessing Field at Fairfield University at 7 p.m.

The Peacocks have struggled against Fairfield losing four times in previous matches. The last victory they snatched was back in 2012 by a 2-0 shutout win at home-field in Jersey City. SPU have recorded two draws against Fairfield in away games between their last win in 2005 and 2007, both 0-0.

Saint Peter’s is currently coming off of a 2-0 road loss against Niagara University last Saturday. Peacocks winger Jordan Jowers set the tempo of the game with seven shots and four on goal. Senior Gabrielle Bandelli followed behind with five shots while Ezequiel Cei and Dominic Laws each had four shots. Goalkeeper Robbie Anderson had one save for the Peacocks.

Fairfield University earned a draw (1-1) against Siena last Saturday as well. Stags Gordon Botterill and Aleksa Radosavljevic helped their team record four shots, but only one on goal. They were down 0-1 in the second half after Siena’s Alejandro Riquelme scored off a pass for the lead. Fairfield senior Angus Hastings sent the ball to center field and shot the ball in the top corner of the goal to tie up the game.

Saint Peter’s returns for revenge after a 2-0 defeat in their last meeting with Fairfield.
