Grier, a Statford, NJ native, will join a crowded Rutgers backcourt, where he will compete for minutes with Mike Williams, Bishop Daniels, Corey Sanders, Justin Goode and others. He will be eligible to play immediately.

Grier played in 30 of Bradley’s 33 games last season, starting 11 of them. He averaged 7.9 points and 1.8 rebounds in 22.7 minutes per game. Grier showed more potential in 2013-14, when he was second on the team in scoring (10.4 PPG) and led the Braves in three-pointers (57).

Omari Grier (24) announced he will transfer to Rutgers for his final season (USA Today).

Grier also played at Florida Atlantic for one season in 2011-12, where he led the team with a 40.8 three-point percentage.

Given his ability to hit shots from beyond the arc, Grier would probably be best served as a three-point specialist off the bench. This should come in handy on a Rutgers team that ranked 13th in the Big Ten in three-point percentage last season (28.9%), and is seeing its three best three-point shooters (with at least 45 attempts) depart (Myles Mack, Kadeem Jack, Junior Etou).

Grier is the seventh addition to the Rutgers’ 2015-16 roster, and the third transfer.
