Soccer Ben Sweat called up for first international match by Stefano Bentivogli October 4, 2018 In the swinging season of New York City FC definitely stands the first national call-up for Ben Sweat. The 27-year-old Blues defender has been called up for matches against Colombia and Peru. A just reward for one of the strongest defenders in the whole MLS. “I’m still a bit shaky, I did not realize I was called up for the national team, a dream that all the players have and I’ve done”, said Sweat. A call came after a career that was not immediately a success for Sweat. Upon his arrival in New York City, after a trial, he immediately impressed with his great qualities and Patrick Vieira immediately gave him great confidence. Sweat has grown a lot with the French coach has found great continuity. Things have not changed with Torrent since Sweat has played 27 games out of the 32 games played by New York City FC. After this great season, Sweat will have the great privilege of representing his country. “I hope to do well with the shirt of my country as I did with that of the NYCFC,” said Sweat commenting with emotion the first call-up in the national team.
