College Rutgers Men’s Basketball: Two Players Transfer by Guest May 30, 2015 Eddie Jordan’s roster continues to undergo numerous changes this offseason, as multiple sources have confirmed redshirt freshman Ryan Johnson and junior Khalil Batie will both transfer from the program. Johnson, a former three-star recruit out of North Carolina, was part of Jordan’s 2014 recruiting class. He sat out this past season as a partial qualifier. The wing player shined during his time at New Hope Christian Academy (Thomasville, N.C.), averaging 27.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists during his senior season. Redshirt freshman Ryan Johnson (13) will transfer from Rutgers (ScarletKnights.com). Batie, a guard from Willingboro, N.J., walked on prior to the 2013-14 season, but did not appear in a game that year. He played in 15 games in 2014-15, including December’s 60-56 win over New Hampshire, where he hit a big three-pointer to give the Scarlet Knights a lead. He also had three steals in just eight minutes in a loss at Iowa. He took to Twitter to thank those who made his time at Rutgers memorable. httpss://twitter.com/SwaggyKayBee/status/601851486012772352 The Rutgers Basketball transfer count now sits at four this offseason, as it was announced forward Junior Etou and guard Kerwin Okoro would transfer earlier this offseason. For what it’s worth, Johnson transferring opens up a scholarship, which will be filled by newcomer Omari Grier. Rutgers is now at its 13-man scholarship limit.
